Coserics

Coserics was a biotechnology company based in Durham, North Carolina, formed in 2008 as a spin-out from Serenex following its acquisition by Pfizer. The company was established to focus on the development of SNX-1012 (meclocycline sulfosalicylate), a clinical-stage small molecule candidate for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis in solid tumor patients. SNX-1012 was designed as a topical oral rinse to target multiple inflammatory pathways involved in the development of mucositis. The program reached Phase 2 clinical testing, evaluating its efficacy in reducing the duration and severity of ulcerative oral mucositis. However, the company eventually became inactive, and the development of its lead asset was discontinued. Coserics represents an example of an asset-centric spin-out created to preserve value for programs not included in a larger corporate acquisition.
