Council for Biotechnology Information

The Council for Biotechnology Information (CBI) was a non-profit organization founded by leading agricultural biotechnology companies to communicate science-based information about GMOs and agricultural innovation. Its primary mission was to foster public understanding and dialogue regarding the role of biotechnology in food production, safety, and sustainability. CBI is most notably recognized for launching the "GMO Answers" initiative, a transparency-focused platform where independent experts and company scientists addressed consumer questions. In 2020, the organization merged its operations into the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) to consolidate industry advocacy and communication efforts.
