Countdown (formerly Countdown for a Cure) is a global non-traditional nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating mitochondrial science and medicine to transform how we prevent disease, extend healthspan, and treat chronic conditions. Founded by Mitzi Solomon, the organization funds bold, high-risk, high-reward research across six core pillars, including women's health, early detection, chronic disease, and frontier therapeutics. Countdown actively supports breakthrough projects such as mitochondrial transplantation for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and muscle preservation.
