Coventry Health Care

Coventry Health Care was a prominent managed health care company that provided a diverse range of health insurance and related services across the United States. Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, the company operated a portfolio of products including commercial health insurance, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid managed care, and workers' compensation services. At the time of its peak operations, it served approximately 5 million members and was recognized for its regional health plan model. In May 2013, the company was acquired by Aetna in a transaction valued at approximately $5.7 billion. This acquisition significantly expanded Aetna's footprint in government-sponsored programs and the workers' compensation market. Following Aetna's subsequent merger with CVS Health, Coventry's operations have been fully integrated into the CVS Health enterprise.
