Company intelligence / Profile preview
Covestro is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of high-quality polymer materials such as polycarbonates and polyurethanes. Originally part of Bayer AG’s MaterialScience division until its spin-off and IPO in late 2015, it now operates independently with headquarters in Leverkusen, Germany, serving global markets through more than forty-six production sites worldwide. Its products are essential components across many industries—including automotive parts, building insulation panels/furniture foams/electronics casings—and also play a significant role supplying advanced plastics for medical devices such as respiratory masks or wound care adhesives, though it does NOT develop drugs or biologics itself. In December 2024 ADNOC International completed its acquisition offer for the company, making it part of Abu Dhabi’s state-owned energy group while maintaining its focus on circularity/sustainability goals within specialty chemicals/materials rather than pharmaceuticals or biotech innovation.
