Cowen Healthcare Investors

Cowen Healthcare Investments was a healthcare-focused investment manager and venture/growth equity investor based in New York that invested in biopharmaceutical, healthcare, diagnostics, and related life sciences companies. It was founded in 2012 and operated as part of Cowen Investment Management, building a portfolio across private and public healthcare opportunities with a particular emphasis on mid-to-late-stage companies. In October 2023, Blue Owl Capital announced an agreement to acquire the funds managed by Cowen Healthcare Investments, and the team subsequently became part of Blue Owl. Following the transaction, the strategy was rebranded as Blue Owl Healthcare Opportunities. This is therefore a healthcare investor rather than a drug-developing biotech or pharma operating company.
