Company intelligence / Profile preview
Cozart was a prominent United Kingdom-based bioscience company specializing in the development and manufacture of rapid point-of-care drug testing systems. The company was highly regarded for its innovative oral fluid testing technology, most notably the Rapiscan and DDS (Digital Drug System) platforms, which allowed for the non-invasive detection of drugs of abuse. These products were widely adopted by law enforcement agencies, particularly for roadside testing, as well as by workplace safety programs and clinical rehabilitation centers. Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Abingdon, Cozart was a pioneer in transitioning drug screening from laboratory-based methods to immediate, on-site diagnostics. In 2007, the company was acquired by the diagnostic firm Concateno for approximately £64.7 million, eventually becoming part of Abbott Laboratories through subsequent acquisitions.
