Creative Biomolecules was a pioneering biotechnology company focused on the development of regenerative medicines through advanced protein engineering. The company is most recognized for its discovery and development of Osteogenic Protein-1 (OP-1), also known as Bone Morphogenetic Protein-7 (BMP-7), which promotes the growth of bone and cartilage. OP-1 was successfully commercialized for orthopedic applications, such as treating non-union fractures, through a long-standing partnership with Stryker Corporation. Beyond orthopedics, the company explored the protein's potential in treating renal disease and other degenerative conditions. In 2000, Creative Biomolecules merged with Ontogeny and Reprogenesis to form Curis, a company focused on signaling pathway drug development.
