Company intelligence / Profile preview
Creative Scientific Methods, Inc. (CSM) was a biotechnology company based in Phoenix, Arizona, that specialized in developing innovative laboratory tools for cell biology and oncology research. Founded in 1997 by Dr. Michael E. Berens, the company is best known for its proprietary Cell Sedimentation Manifold (CSM), a specialized device used to create standardized, confluent cell monolayers for high-precision cell migration and invasion assays. These tools were instrumental in studying the invasive behavior of malignant glioma and other cancer types, providing researchers with a more reproducible alternative to traditional Boyden chamber assays. The company also manufactured Teflon-printed microscope slides and related imaging accessories to support high-resolution cell analysis. Although the company was a key provider of specialized research tools for over a decade, it concluded its operations around 2010.
