Company intelligence / Profile preview
CrestecBio is a Japanese biotechnology startup spun out from the University of Tsukuba in 2021. The company is pioneering the development of polymer-based nanomedicines, specifically redox nanoparticles (RNPs), to treat oxidative stress-related diseases. Its proprietary platform technology, licensed from the University of Tsukuba, enables the creation of pH-responsive polymeric micelles that selectively accumulate at sites of inflammation and tissue injury to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS) without systemic exposure. CrestecBio's lead program, CTB211, is a neuroprotective agent designed to prevent ischemia-reperfusion injury in acute ischemic stroke patients undergoing mechanical thrombectomy. The company is also expanding its pipeline to target other oxidative stress-driven conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), cancer cachexia, and organ transplantation.
