Crucell Vaccines

Crucell is a biotechnology company specializing in the development, production, and marketing of vaccines and antibodies to prevent and treat infectious diseases. The company is widely recognized for its proprietary PER.C6 cell line technology, which provides a high-yield, scalable platform for the manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals and viral vectors. Crucell's portfolio historically included vaccines for childhood diseases, travel-related infections, and respiratory illnesses, such as Quinvaxem and Vivotif. In 2011, the company was acquired by Johnson & Johnson for approximately $2.4 billion and integrated into its Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies to form Janssen Vaccines. Its foundational technologies have since been instrumental in the development of major vaccine candidates for Ebola, HIV, and COVID-19.
