Cryptic Afflictions LLC was a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and characterization of "Cryptovirus," a novel RNA virus within the Rubulavirus genus. Led by virologist Dr. Steven J. Robbins, the company investigated the link between this virus and various neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, including Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Epilepsy. Their work involved developing diagnostic tests to detect virus-specific antibodies and exploring potential antiviral therapies. The company's research was notably supported by the National CFIDS Foundation and eventually led to a merger with Global Medical Technologies to form Limina Biotechnologies.
