Company intelligence / Profile preview
Cryptopharma was a French biotechnology company dedicated to the development of cryptophycins, a class of highly potent tubulin-binding antimitotic agents originally isolated from cyanobacteria. The company focused on optimizing these molecules to overcome multi-drug resistance in cancer cells and improve the therapeutic index of chemotherapy. Its research programs aimed to develop cryptophycin analogs as standalone anti-cancer agents and as cytotoxic payloads for targeted delivery systems such as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). In 2005, Cryptopharma was acquired by Hybrigenics, a biopharmaceutical company specializing in protein-protein interactions, to bolster its oncology pipeline.
