CTI Science

CTI Science is a biotechnology company founded in 2007 by Dr. Boyd Haley, based in Lexington, Kentucky. The company was established to develop and commercialize a novel lipophilic chelating agent and antioxidant known as Emeramide (also referred to as NBMI or OSR#1). Emeramide is designed to treat heavy metal toxicity, specifically mercury and lead poisoning, by binding to metal ions and neutralizing oxidative stress. The compound was originally marketed as a dietary supplement but was later transitioned into a formal drug development pathway following regulatory intervention by the FDA. In 2014, CTI Science's assets and clinical programs were transitioned to EmeraMed Limited, which continues the development of Emeramide. The lead candidate has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for indications including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and mercury toxicity.
