Cura Pharmaceuticals was a specialty pharmaceutical company based in New Jersey that focused on the development and commercialization of innovative pain management products. The company is best known for its Lidocare brand, which featured the first over-the-counter (OTC) lidocaine patch designed to be water-resistant and provide 24-hour relief. In 2018, the Lidocare product line was acquired by Scilex Holding Company, a subsidiary of Sorrento Therapeutics, to strengthen their non-opioid pain management portfolio. Historically, Cura Pharmaceuticals also engaged in strategic partnerships for the distribution of specialty drugs, including oncology treatments like carboplatin and medical devices such as Mucotrol wafers. Following the divestiture of its flagship brand, the company's active operations in the specialty pharmaceutical sector have largely concluded.
