Cygnus Therapeutic Systems

Cygnus Therapeutic Systems, later known as Cygnus, Inc., was a medical technology company focused on non-invasive glucose monitoring and transdermal drug delivery. The company achieved significant recognition for the development of the GlucoWatch Biographer, the first non-invasive continuous glucose monitoring device to receive FDA approval. Beyond diagnostics, Cygnus developed several transdermal patch products, including treatments for smoking cessation and pain management, often through partnerships with major pharmaceutical firms. In 1999, the company sold its drug delivery business to ALZA Corporation, and in 2005, the remaining entity was acquired by Animas Corporation, which was subsequently integrated into Johnson & Johnson.
