Company intelligence / Profile preview
Daiichi Radioisotope Laboratories (DRL) was a leading Japanese pharmaceutical company specializing in the development, manufacture, and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging and internal radiation therapy. Founded in 1968 as a subsidiary of Daiichi Pharmaceutical, the company became a dominant force in the Japanese nuclear medicine market, providing essential tracers for oncology, cardiology, and neurology. In 2006, Fujifilm Corporation acquired the company from Daiichi Sankyo to anchor its expansion into the healthcare sector, subsequently renaming it Fujifilm RI Pharma. The entity was later merged with Fujifilm Toyama Chemical in 2018 to consolidate Fujifilm's pharmaceutical operations. DRL's legacy continues through a robust portfolio of imaging agents and therapeutic radionuclides that remain standard-of-care in Japanese clinical practice.
