Daiichi-Suntory Pharma

Daiichi Suntory Pharma was a Japanese pharmaceutical company established in 2002 as a joint venture between Daiichi Pharmaceutical and Suntory. The entity was formed to merge Suntory's pharmaceutical division with Daiichi's established commercial and R&D infrastructure. The company specialized in cardiovascular, oncology, and immunology therapeutics, leveraging Suntory's historical strengths in peptide research. Key products in its portfolio included the acute heart failure treatment HANP (carperitide) and the anti-arrhythmic agent Sunrythm (pilsicainide). Following the 2005 merger of Daiichi Pharmaceutical and Sankyo, Daiichi Suntory Pharma was eventually absorbed into the Daiichi Sankyo group. Today, its legacy products and research programs continue under the Daiichi Sankyo umbrella.
