Danisco BioActives

Danisco BioActives was a specialized division of Danisco A/S, a global leader in food ingredients and industrial biotechnology. The unit focused on the research, development, and commercialization of bioactive ingredients, including probiotics, cultures, and natural antimicrobials. Their products were primarily targeted at the dietary supplement, functional food, and animal nutrition markets to improve digestive and immune health. In 2011, Danisco was acquired by DuPont for approximately $6.3 billion, and the BioActives portfolio was later integrated into IFF following the 2021 merger of DuPont's Nutrition & Biosciences business. The company is best known for its HOWARU brand of clinically documented probiotic strains.
