Daughters of Charity Health System

Daughters of Charity Health System (DCHS) was a non-profit regional healthcare system based in California, originally sponsored by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. The system operated several major medical centers, including O’Connor Hospital, Saint Louise Regional Hospital, and Seton Medical Center, with a primary mission of providing care to underserved and impoverished populations. In 2015, following significant financial challenges, the system was acquired by BlueMountain Capital Management and transitioned into a for-profit entity renamed Verity Health System. This transition ended the Catholic-sponsored governance of the facilities. Verity Health System subsequently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2018, leading to the eventual sale of its individual hospitals to various other healthcare entities.
