Laboratoires Debat was a prominent French pharmaceutical company founded in 1920 by Dr. Ferdinand Debat, specializing in urology, gastroenterology, and dermatology. The company is most recognized for its development of Tadenan, a phytotherapeutic treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia derived from the bark of Pygeum africanum. Headquartered in Garches, France, the firm operated the prestigious Institut Debat, which combined pharmaceutical research with medical practice. In 1974, Laboratoires Debat was acquired by Synthelabo, which later merged with Sanofi in 1999. Today, the company's legacy persists through its integrated product lines and historical contributions to French clinical pharmacology. Its core products remain part of the Sanofi portfolio, serving patients in various international markets.
