Laboratoires Débat was a prominent French pharmaceutical company that specialized in the development of treatments for urological and gastrointestinal conditions. The company is best known for its pioneering work with botanical extracts, specifically the development of Tadenan (Pygeum africanum) for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Additionally, the company developed Debridat (trimebutine), a widely utilized musculotropic antispasmodic for functional bowel disorders. Following a period of significant growth in the mid-20th century, the company was acquired by Synthelabo in 1973 and was eventually integrated into the global healthcare leader Sanofi.
