Company intelligence / Profile preview
deCODE biostructures was a biotechnology company specializing in structure-based drug discovery and structural biology services. Originally formed through the acquisition of MediChem Life Sciences by deCODE genetics, the company provided expertise in X-ray crystallography, protein production, and fragment-based screening. It served as a contract research organization for major pharmaceutical partners while also maintaining internal discovery programs in areas such as Alzheimer's disease. In 2009, following the financial restructuring of its parent company, the unit was sold to a management-led group and rebranded as Emerald BioStructures. The company's legacy continues through its evolution into Beryllium Discovery and its eventual acquisition by UCB.
