Company intelligence / Profile preview
deCODE chemistry was a contract research organization (CRO) and drug discovery company specializing in medicinal chemistry, process development, and structural biology. Originally formed through the acquisition of MediChem Life Sciences by deCODE genetics in 2002, the company provided integrated drug discovery services to global pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners. Its expertise included fragment-based drug discovery, high-throughput protein crystallography, and cGMP manufacturing for early-stage clinical trials. Operating out of facilities in Woodridge, Illinois, and Bainbridge Island, Washington, the company was instrumental in developing several clinical candidates for cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases. In 2010, the unit was divested to Emerald BioGroup as part of deCODE genetics' financial restructuring.
