Delbay Pharmaceuticals

Delbay Pharmaceuticals was a strategic joint venture established in 1974 between the German company Bayer AG and the American firm Schering-Plough. The entity was created specifically to market Bayer's research-derived pharmaceutical products in the United States, a market where Bayer had previously faced trademark and distribution challenges. Its most successful product was the antifungal agent Lotrimin (clotrimazole), which became a standard treatment for various dermatological fungal infections. The joint venture operated until the early 1990s, at which point the partnership was dissolved as Bayer moved to consolidate its own independent operations in the U.S. market.
