Derlan Industries was a Canadian industrial conglomerate that maintained a significant presence in the healthcare sector through its medical device division. The company specialized in patient handling solutions, including the design and manufacture of ceiling lifts, floor lifts, and ergonomic slings used in clinical settings to ensure safe patient transfers. Additionally, Derlan produced high-precision components for medical imaging equipment, such as CT and MRI systems, serving as a key supplier to major OEMs like GE Healthcare. In 2001, Derlan divested its healthcare assets to Prism Medical for approximately $10.5 million CAD to focus on its core industrial operations. The company eventually rebranded as Northstar Aerospace in 2003, marking its exit from the healthcare market.
