Designer Diagnostics was a biotechnology company based in Glasgow, Scotland, that specialized in the development of rapid molecular diagnostic tests for infectious diseases. The company's core expertise lay in creating highly sensitive assays for healthcare-associated infections, most notably Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Their technology was designed to integrate with portable PCR platforms to provide rapid results at the point of care, bypassing the delays associated with traditional laboratory cultures. In 2008, the company was acquired by Enigma Diagnostics to bolster its portfolio of rapid, field-deployable molecular tests. This acquisition allowed for the integration of Designer Diagnostics' assay technology into Enigma's automated diagnostic instruments.
