Desmos

Desmos, Inc. was a biotechnology company based in San Diego, California, that specialized in the development of products for tissue regeneration and cell adhesion. The company’s proprietary technology was centered on hemidesmosomes and the extracellular matrix protein Laminin-5 (now known as Laminin-332), which is essential for anchoring epithelial cells to underlying tissues. Desmos aimed to commercialize this technology through bio-adhesive coatings for medical implants and therapeutic treatments for chronic wounds and ophthalmic conditions. During its operation, the company was publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol DSMO. In 2001, Desmos merged with Tissue Informatics to combine its cell adhesion expertise with tissue imaging and informatics capabilities.
