Company intelligence / Profile preview
Detroit Behavioral Institute (DBI) was a residential treatment facility located in Detroit, Michigan, that specialized in providing mental health and behavioral services to children and adolescents aged 10 to 19. As a subsidiary of Acadia Healthcare, the institute offered gender-specific programs for both adjudicated youth involved in the legal system and non-adjudicated youth. The facility utilized evidence-based clinical modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and integrated educational services through the on-site Capstone Academy. In 2022, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordered the permanent closure of the facility following extensive investigations into allegations of staff abuse and numerous licensing violations. The entity is currently the subject of multiple civil lawsuits related to its historical operations and patient safety standards.
