Company intelligence / Profile preview
DeveloCo was a clinical-stage biotechnology company founded in 2017 by former Alexion Pharmaceuticals executives, including Martin Mackay and John Orloff. The company was established to develop a portfolio of rare disease assets out-licensed from Alexion, most notably ALXN1101 (fosdenopterin) for the treatment of Molybdenum Cofactor Deficiency (MoCD) Type A. In a rare turn of events, Alexion decided to bring the programs and the leadership team back in-house just months after the initial out-licensing agreement, leading to the acquisition of DeveloCo by Alexion in June 2017. The lead asset, ALXN1101, was subsequently sold by Alexion to BridgeBio Pharma's Origin Biosciences and received FDA approval as Nulibry in 2021. The founders of DeveloCo later went on to establish Rallybio, another rare disease-focused biotechnology company.
