Dezima Pharma

Dezima Pharma was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company based in the Netherlands that specialized in developing novel therapies for dyslipidemia and cardiovascular diseases. The company's primary focus was the development of obicetrapib (formerly TA-8995), a potent oral small molecule inhibitor of the cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP). In Phase 2b clinical trials, obicetrapib demonstrated significant efficacy in reducing LDL cholesterol and increasing HDL cholesterol levels. In 2015, Dezima was acquired by Amgen for $300 million upfront plus potential milestones totaling over $1.2 billion. Although Amgen later paused development, the lead asset was subsequently licensed to NewAmsterdam Pharma, where it has progressed into Phase 3 trials.
