Diabetes Detections

Diabetes Detection, Inc. (DDI) was a medical technology company and a subsidiary of Hathaway Corporation (later FutureWorld Corp). Based in St. Petersburg, Florida, the company specialized in developing non-invasive diagnostic tools for the early detection of diabetes-related complications. Its flagship product, the Vibrameter, was a mobile medical device designed to detect diabetic neuropathy and kidney failure by utilizing vibration sensors on communication devices like Blackberries and pagers. DDI aimed to provide a non-invasive, accessible screening method to identify diabetes complications years before clinical diagnosis. Although the company successfully developed a working prototype and entered an alliance with Research In Motion (RIM) in 2006, it did not achieve full commercialization before its parent company underwent restructuring.
