Diabetic Health

Diabetic Health, formerly known as Clinical Sensors, was a North Carolina medical device and diagnostics company focused on nitric oxide-enabled technologies for diabetes management and hospital monitoring. Its lead work centered on nanoparticle-based nitric oxide-releasing coatings intended to reduce the foreign body response around continuous glucose monitoring sensors and insulin infusion sets, with the goal of improving sensor accuracy and device longevity. The company also developed membrane-based electrochemical sensing technologies for point-of-care monitoring of nitric oxide and related severe acute conditions such as sepsis. Founded out of Professor Mark Schoenfisch’s lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the company operated in Research Triangle Park before being acquired by KNOW Bio in December 2019. Following the acquisition, its technology became part of KNOW Bio’s nitric oxide-focused portfolio rather than an independently operating commercial-stage company.
