Company intelligence / Profile preview
Diasonics was a pioneering medical imaging company founded in 1977 that became a global leader in diagnostic ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology. Headquartered in Milpitas, California, the company was instrumental in developing early digital ultrasound systems and high-field MRI scanners. During the 1980s and 1990s, it introduced several innovations in digital image processing and transducer technology that set industry standards. Following a series of corporate restructurings, its ultrasound division was acquired by Elscint and subsequently by GE Healthcare in 1998. Today, the Diasonics legacy continues through the integration of its advanced imaging technologies into GE's core ultrasound product lines.
