Discovery Technology International was a Sarasota, Florida-based designer and manufacturer of precision motion and control technologies built around proprietary ultrasonic standing wave-type piezoelectric motors, actuators, valves, electronics, and software. Its products were sold as enabling components for OEM applications across multiple sectors, including medical devices, life science research instrumentation, optics, aerospace, robotics, and industrial systems. In healthcare-related markets, the company positioned its piezo motion technology for use in medical devices, MRI-compatible systems, and life science instruments requiring compact, precise, quiet, and energy-efficient motion control. Discovery Technology International was not a drug-development biotech or pharmaceutical company; rather, it was a medtech-enabling component supplier. The company was acquired by Piezo Motion in March 2021, after which the legacy DTI business appears to have been absorbed into the acquirer’s product offering and brand architecture.
