Company intelligence / Profile preview
Divine Interventures was a prominent Internet incubator and holding company founded in 1999 by Andrew "Flip" Filipowski during the height of the dot-com boom. Based in Chicago, the company aimed to create an "Internet zaibatsu" by investing in, acquiring, and providing infrastructure for a vast network of B2B e-commerce and software startups. While primarily focused on enterprise software and web services, the company had exposure to the healthcare sector through investments in platforms like Neoforma, a B2B marketplace for medical supplies. Following the burst of the dot-com bubble and a series of aggressive but ultimately unsustainable acquisitions, the company struggled financially and eventually filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2003.
