Company intelligence / Profile preview
DOBI Medical International was a medical device company that specialized in the development of advanced imaging technologies for breast cancer detection. The company's core technology, Dynamic Optical Breast Imaging (DOBI), was implemented in its flagship product, the ComfortScan system. This non-invasive diagnostic tool used high-intensity light and gentle pressure to detect the abnormal vascularization and angiogenesis associated with malignant tumors. ComfortScan was designed to serve as a functional adjunct to traditional mammography, providing additional diagnostic information to clinicians. Although the company obtained CE Mark approval and sold units in international markets, it struggled with regulatory approval in the United States and financial stability. DOBI Medical International ultimately filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2008 and ceased all operations.
