Company intelligence / Profile preview
DogVacay was a leading online marketplace that connected pet owners with local pet sitters and dog walkers, providing a community-based alternative to traditional kennel boarding. The platform offered a variety of services including overnight pet sitting, dog walking, and pet daycare, all supported by premium insurance and 24/7 customer support. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Santa Monica, the company scaled rapidly with significant venture capital backing to become a dominant player in the 'sharing economy' for pet care. In 2017, DogVacay was acquired by its primary competitor, Rover, in an all-stock merger that consolidated the North American pet-tech market. The combined entity created the world's largest network of pet care providers, effectively phasing out the DogVacay brand in favor of the Rover platform.
