Dr. Wander

Wander is a Swiss company with a storied history in the pharmaceutical and nutritional industries, founded in 1865 by Dr. Georg Wander. The company achieved global prominence through the invention of Ovomaltine (Ovaltine), a malt-based nutritional supplement originally developed for medicinal purposes to treat malnutrition. In the pharmaceutical sector, operating as Dr. A. Wander AG, the firm was a pioneer in the development of anti-tuberculosis medications, most notably para-aminosalicylic acid (Aminacyl). While its pharmaceutical operations were integrated into Sandoz (now Novartis) following a 1967 acquisition, the core nutrition business was later sold to Associated British Foods in 2002. Today, Wander AG continues to operate as a leading provider of health-focused food and beverage products from its headquarters in Switzerland.
