Draths

Draths was a U.S. industrial biotechnology and renewable chemicals company that developed biobased manufacturing processes for commodity and specialty chemical intermediates. Its platform combined chemistry, biology, genetic engineering, fermentation, and green chemistry to make petroleum-derived materials from renewable feedstocks. The company focused on intermediates used in nylons, plastics, paints, resins, polyesters, and related materials rather than human therapeutics. Draths was founded by John Frost and Karen Frost in Michigan and was later acquired by Amyris in 2011. It appears to have ceased operating as an independent company following the acquisition.
