Overview

Forty Seven was a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company focused on developing therapies that activate the immune system to fight cancer by targeting the CD47 'don't eat me' signal. Co-founded by Dr. Ravindra Majeti and colleagues from Stanford University, the company's lead asset, magrolimab, was designed to block CD47 on cancer cells, thereby enabling macrophages to engulf and destroy them. The company was acquired by Gilead Sciences in 2020 for approximately $4.9 billion to bolster Gilead's oncology portfolio. While magrolimab faced clinical setbacks post-acquisition, the company's foundational work significantly advanced the field of macrophage-directed therapies.
