Founded as Drug Royalty Corporation in 1992, it was the first company of its kind to go public, pioneering the healthcare royalty monetization model. The trust provided immediate liquidity to academic institutions, research hospitals, and biotechnology companies in exchange for future royalty streams from approved, high-demand drugs. Its portfolio featured royalties on major therapies such as Enbrel, Synagis, and Remicade. In 2008, the trust was acquired and taken private by DRI Capital, which continues to operate as a leading global manager of healthcare royalty funds.
