Company intelligence / Profile preview
Drugstore.com was a pioneering online retailer of health, beauty, vision, and pharmacy products. Founded in 1998, it was one of the first major web-based pharmacies, providing consumers with a convenient platform to purchase over-the-counter medications, prescriptions, and personal care items. The company expanded its reach through the acquisition of specialized sites such as Beauty.com and VisionDirect.com. In 2011, it was acquired by Walgreens for approximately $429 million to enhance the retail giant's digital presence. Walgreens eventually shuttered the Drugstore.com website in 2016 to consolidate its e-commerce operations under the primary Walgreens brand.
