Durata Therapeutics was a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel therapies for patients with infectious diseases and other serious conditions. The company's lead product, Dalvance (dalbavancin), is a long-acting, semi-synthetic lipoglycopeptide antibiotic approved for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA. Durata successfully navigated the regulatory process to gain FDA approval for Dalvance in May 2014. In November 2014, the company was acquired by Actavis (now part of AbbVie) to strengthen its infectious disease portfolio. The acquisition was valued at approximately $675 million plus contingent value rights based on future regulatory milestones.
