Company intelligence / Profile preview
EBI (EBI S.A.) was a Belgian biotechnology company focused on the development of innovative therapies for inflammatory diseases, with a primary focus on sepsis. The company's lead program was a monoclonal antibody designed to neutralize Complement C5a, a key mediator in the inflammatory cascade that leads to septic shock. EBI was founded as a spin-off from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and leveraged research from the Institute of Medical Immunology. The company was eventually acquired by the German biotech InflaRx, which integrated EBI's assets into its own anti-C5a pipeline.
