EctoPharma was a Scottish biotechnology company focused on developing innovative, non-toxic solutions for the control of ectoparasites in human and animal health. The company's lead product, Vamousse, is a pesticide-free head lice treatment that kills both lice and eggs through a physical mechanism of action rather than neurotoxic chemical pathways. Beyond human health, EctoPharma developed specialized treatments for sea lice in the aquaculture industry, addressing significant economic challenges in salmon farming. The company was acquired by TyraTech in 2014 to strengthen its portfolio of nature-derived insect control products. Following the acquisition, the Vamousse brand was eventually sold to Alliance Pharma in 2017.
