Company intelligence / Profile preview
Edico Genome was a San Diego-based genomics informatics company that developed the DRAGEN Bio-IT Platform, a hardware-accelerated secondary analysis system for next-generation sequencing data. Its technology used FPGA-based acceleration and proprietary algorithms to speed tasks such as BCL conversion, compression, mapping, alignment, sorting, duplicate marking, and haplotype variant calling. The company focused on clinical genomics, research sequencing, and large-scale genome center workflows rather than therapeutic drug development. Edico Genome commercialized DRAGEN with healthcare institutions, research organizations, and genomic analysis customers before being acquired by Illumina in May 2018. Following the acquisition, DRAGEN became part of Illumina's broader sequencing software portfolio.
