Company intelligence / Profile preview
Efficas was a life sciences company focused on the development and commercialization of medical foods for the management of chronic inflammatory conditions. The company's research centered on the use of bioactive lipids to modulate the arachidonic acid cascade and inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory leukotrienes. Its lead product, Efficas Care, was a clinically-validated medical food designed to support respiratory health in individuals with asthma and allergic rhinitis. By providing a specific ratio of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), the product aimed to reduce the need for traditional rescue medications. In 2010, Efficas was acquired by i-Health, a subsidiary of Amerifit Brands, which subsequently became part of DSM.
