Company intelligence / Profile preview
Elan International Services (EIS) was a strategic subsidiary of Elan Corporation, a prominent Irish biotechnology company specializing in neuroscience and drug delivery technologies. EIS played a critical role in the company's business development, managing licensing deals and holding equity stakes in numerous partner companies. The parent company is most recognized for the development of Tysabri (natalizumab) for multiple sclerosis and its proprietary NanoCrystal technology, which enhances the bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs. In 2011, Elan's drug delivery division merged with Alkermes, and in 2013, the remainder of Elan was acquired by Perrigo for approximately $8.6 billion.
