Electronic Network Systems (ENS) was a prominent healthcare information technology company that provided electronic data interchange (EDI) and transaction processing services. The company's platform facilitated the secure exchange of administrative and financial data, such as medical claims and eligibility inquiries, between healthcare providers and insurance payers. By automating these processes, ENS helped reduce administrative overhead and improved the efficiency of the healthcare revenue cycle. In 2004, ENS was acquired by Ingenix, a division of UnitedHealth Group, and its operations were subsequently integrated into the Optum brand. At the time of its acquisition, it was one of the nation's largest healthcare clearinghouses, serving thousands of providers and hundreds of payers.
